 Hello Everyone,

My friend Sue took my Country Sampler pattern and truly made it her own with incredible creativity and skill.

After attending my Patchwork Math class at the Independence Hall Guild in Arnold, CA, she put her mathematical expertise to work, enlarging the blocks from 9" to 12".

She seamlessly blended elements of her own design with a block from my A Ribbon Runs Through It pattern, selecting the perfect fabrics to create a stunning ribbon effect encircling each block.

Last weekend, I picked up her quilt from the talented machine quilter, Dianne Schweickert, in Livermore. I adore this ...

Threads of History Club from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about this but there are many “clubs” and subscriptions available through shops or Facebook groups. I had joined one, but only one of the four or five projects I received really interested me. As you know, my preference for stitching is historical samplers, or maybe just samplers in...

Preparations Continue from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

I've been singing a few bars of, "Leaving on a jet plane" over the past few days while preparing for my trip to the Pieceful Gathering retreat at Fox River Grove, Il.  The tutorials are finished and safely packed away in my suitcase.  All of the quilting components are glued onto the block layout sheets.

I'm teaching my Country Sampler pattern to the "retreaters".

I've dusted off my lecture and I'm ready to entertain the girls.  Because of Covid, I haven't been doing guild lectures for over two years.  I had to add ...

More Country Sampler Blocks from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

I'm still making more blocks for my Country Sampler quilt in preparation for my class at a retreat hosted by Pieceful Gathering Quilt Shop in Fox River Grove, IL.

I combined the red polka dot from Maria's Sky fabric with Mary Ann's Gift fabric by Betsy Chutchian, and created this block.

I just love how all of Betsy Chutchian's fabrics play well together.  I stored the last two lines in an old toolbox.  Fabric has always been part of my decorating scheme.  I rotate fabrics through this toolbox since it is such a good ...

Olympic Quilting Country Sampler from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

I've been doing some Olympic quilting this week as I prepare for the retreat for Pieceful Gathering Quilt Shop in Fox River Grove, Illinois in March.  I'll be teaching my Country Sampler quilt which incorporates a lot of the quilting components from my Patchwork Math book.

It is my understanding the shop still has a couple of openings for the retreat.  Click HERE for the information about the retreat.  They are also putting bundles together using Kansas Troubles fabric.  Click HERE if you are interested in a kit.  You can purchase a kit even if you ...

Country Sampler Pattern from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.  This was the strangest Mother's Day in history!  I, like you, would give anything to be able to wrap my kids, and grandkids in my arms.    When that day comes, it's going to be the best day ever.

Now to get to the matters at hand.  The following pictures are my Country Sampler quilt and design. This is the pattern that I taught on a Quilting Cruise to Alaska two summers ago.

It's a learning quilt pattern which reinforces the construction of the same components ...
